Pornic

Pornic est une commune de l’Ouest de la France, située dans le département de la Loire-Atlantique, en région Pays de la Loire.

La commune fait partie de la Bretagne historique, dans le pays traditionnel du pays de Retz et dans le pays historique du Pays nantais.

Pornic a fusionné en 1973 avec l’ancienne commune du Clion-sur-Mer (dont les habitants s’appellent les Clionnais), puis en 2007 avec l’ancienne commune de Sainte-Marie-sur-Mer (dont les habitants s’appellent les Sanmaritains), cette dernière commune étant devenue une commune associée de Pornic en 1973. Les habitants de la commune, qui s’appellent les Pornicais, étaient au nombre de 14 578 selon le dernier recensement de l’Insee de 2014.

Située au bord de l’océan Atlantique, la ville est connue pour son château et son vieux port. Ses principales ressources sont, au début du xxie siècle, le tourisme et les produits de la mer. Pornic est également appréciée pour sa faïencerie, son casino, son centre de thalassothérapie, son golf 18 trous et sa fraiseraie.

Pornic is a commune in the Western Loire department of Loire-Atlantique in the Pays de la Loire region of France.

The town is part of historic Brittany, in the traditional country of the country of Retz and in the historical country of the Pays Nantais.

Pornic merged in 1973 with the former commune of Clion-sur-Mer (whose inhabitants are called Clionnais), then in 2007 with the former commune of Sainte-Marie-sur-Mer (whose inhabitants are called The Sanmaritans), the latter having become an associated municipality of Pornic in 1973. The inhabitants of the commune, called Pornicais, were 14 578 according to the latest INSEE census of 2014.

Located on the Atlantic Ocean, the town is known for its castle and old harbor. Its main resources are, at the beginning of the 21st century, tourism and seafood. Pornic is also popular for its earthenware, casino, thalassotherapy center, 18 hole golf course and mill.
